Day Program Wildflower location FAQS

WHAT DAYS AND TIMES IS DAY PROGRAM OPEN? 

The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center will be offered on Tuesday & Thursdays from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm.  Arrival is end at 9:30am as we will be on the property and not easily found. 

IMPORTANT DETAIL TO NOTE:

This is an outdoor location. There will be indoor activities throughout the day, however you should be prepared to spend up to two hours at a time outside. This location will involve navigating the campus, plan on wearing appropriate footwear as the curriculum will include day walks and outdoor activities.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

  • Water
  • Weather Appropriate Clothing
  • Appropriate Footwear for Walking
  • Sunscreen
  • Lunch or Money to Purchase Lunch
  • One Backpack or Bag for any Belongings

 

DO I NEED TO BRING A LUNCH? 

You are more than welcome to bring your own lunch everyday. A lunch can be purchased from Wildflower Café typically lunch would cost around $10 menu can be found at www.wildflower.org/central-complex/wildflower-cafe. The Arc is not associated with the café’s schedule or menu. All students are responsible to maintain their own money and purchase lunch on their own. 

WHAT IF I NEED HELP NAVIGATING THE PROPERTY OR USING THE RESTROOM? 

The Arc of the Capital Area’s Wildflower location is completely independent program. All participants will need to be able to navigate the property by themselves, use the restroom independently, eat independently.  

HOW IS IT HANDLED WHEN SOMEONE IS SICK? 

If an individual has a fever at or above 100.4 and/or has vomiting or diarrhea, it’s requested that the individual not attend the program until symptom free for at least 24 hours. If an illness develops during the program, contact will be made with the individual’s responsible party to coordinate pick up. 

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER AN INTEREST FORM IS FILLED OUT? 

You won’t hear any update until there is an opening.  However, if your contact information has changed please update your interest form. 

The  process: 

  • Contact – Email or phone contact will be made to let you know there is an opening. 
  • Tour – We will set up a time for yourself &/or loved one to come out to see the program. 
  • Paperwork – If the program seems to be a good fit, we will give you an application along with a few other documents that will need to be completed. 
  • Trial – After completing the tour and paperwork, a 3-day trial will occur.  
  • Enrollment – Based on the trial, we will notify yourself or your authorized representative of acceptance.
