Our corporate volunteer package can be customized based upon the number of volunteers and volunteer preference. We can plan your time with us based on art experience, working directly with clients, assessing clients ability with social media and technological literacy, providing learning opportunities within our organization, preparing canvases, filling paint bottles or assisting with displaying artwork for upcoming art shows. We welcome you and your colleagues to help us continue to build this community with team unity.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I become a volunteer?

Volunteers must complete an online application and pass a background check. Once the application is approved we will contact you to schedule your first shift.

What would I be doing as an art studio volunteer?

Volunteers in the art studio assist clients by encouraging and inspiring them with ideas for their art projects. Volunteers also help to keep clients on track and engaged, gather supplies, socialize, and in some cases even physically guide the hand of some of our less ambulatory or vision impaired clients.

Is there an age requirement?

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old unless accompanied by a guardian. Accompanying guardians must also complete an application.

How long is a typical volunteer shift in the art studio?

Volunteer shifts are Monday through Friday 9am – 2pm. Lunch runs from 11:30am – 12pm. Volunteers are encouraged to have lunch with the clients, but it’s not a requirement.

Can I fulfill assigned service hours for my college courses?

Absolutely! Many of our long time volunteers came to us with the intention of simply completing assigned hours for class. Our bet is that you’ll want to stay well past fulfilling your minimum requirement. We offer half shifts in the art studio to students to help fit in to their busy class schedules: 9am-11:30am; 12pm-2pm.

What if I am looking for a volunteer project to do with a group, business, or organization?

That’s fantastic! We love when folks want to come together and donate their time. Group projects can be planned in conjunction with our art studio and customized to fit the specific skills and strengths of the group. We also rely on group volunteers to help during our large yearly events. If you have any other creative ideas, we would love to hear from you. Contact Chance Garner, Volunteer Coordinator, at cgarner@arcaustin.org to discuss details.

What if I've volunteered with The Arc of the Capital Area in years past and would like to come back?

Welcome back! We’re always happy to have returning volunteers. If you haven’t filled out our online application, you do need to submit one. Once we receive your application, we’ll be in contact to schedule your first return shift.

Who can I contact if I have more questions?

Contact Chance Garner, Volunteer Coordinator, at cgarner@arcaustin.org or (512)476-7044 ext. 223
